CarbonTracker includes the following key components. An example and explanation of each product component is provided here.

  • Flux Maps
    These pages give access to maps illustrating the estimated biological CO2 surface exchange for every year of CarbonTracker. The integrated totals of the maps shown are summarized in the added tables. Maps are available for Europe, for the World's Oceans, and for the whole globe.
  • Flux Time Series I
    The figures on these pages illustrate the evolution of the CO2 surface exchange in time (for biosphere, ocean, biomass burning and fossil fuel combustion). Estimated fluxes have been integrated to larger regions that represent relevant continents or ocean basins. Year-to-year variations can be seen in the supplied tables. The regions available correspond to those defined in the TransCom intercomparison project.
  • Flux Time Series II: ecosystem fluxes
    The figures on these pages illustrate the evolution of the CO2 surface exchange in time (for biosphere, ocean, biomass burning and fossil fuel combustion). Estimated fluxes have been integrated to larger regions that represent relevant ecosystems such as forests, crop lands, or grass lands. Year-to-year variations can be seen in the supplied tables. The regions available are a derived from the Olson ecosystem database and the TransCom intercomparison project.
  • Flux Time Series III: country fluxes
    The figures on these pages illustrate the evolution of the CO2 surface exchange in time (for biosphere, ocean, biomass burning and fossil fuel combustion). Estimated fluxes have been integrated to selected countries. Year-to-year variations can be seen in the supplied tables.
  • Flux anomaly time series I
    The figures on these pages illustrate the evolution of the biological CO2 surface exchange in time like the previous product, but now the long term seasonal cycle has been subtracted to bring out the anomalies. Estimated anomalies have been integrated to larger regions that represent relevant continents or ocean basins. Year-to-year variations can be seen in the supplied tables. The regions available correspond to those defined in the TransCom intercomparison project.
  • Flux anomaly time series II: ecosystem fluxes
